Grease traps are designed to do just what the name implies, which is to trap fatty oils, greases, and sludge, and to separate the oils from water. The substances pass through a catching system, which gives them time to cool off and solidify, and the water passes through the drain as normal. This system, used mostly by restaurants, must be maintained regularly in order to work effectively in keeping the grease trap clean.
At Better Septic Services we use a Crust Buster tank agitator with grease blade to stir the fats, oils, and grease with the water layer and to mix the solids that have settled to the bottom of the trap before we pump your trap. This results in a cleaner, emptier and more thoroughly pumped trap. Have your grease trap pumped often to avoid clogged up drains, expensive repairs, and fines from the city or county.
